As spring is hotting up nicely so is our programme! We have plenty to keep you smiling and socialising over the new few months.

We start with a play reading led by Sandra Sprawson on Thursday 26th April at El Candil Bar in San Pedro. We will be reading “Just the two of us” written by Roz Moruzzi with seven characters. We will meet at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. There is no charge for this event and you do not need to book, simply turn up. It is your chance to read a part or you can simply sit and listen. These events are really popular so please come along and enjoy a friendly and relaxing evening.

At the end of March over 320 people came to see “Habeas Corpus” directed by Peter Brooks at El Paraiso Golf Club. The show was a huge success and we sold out of tickets very quickly. Whilst the Atalaya Park Hotel is closed for renovation work, we are fortunate to be able to use the golf club. We had seats for 100 each night but we feel that in future we will reduce this to 75 to make it more accommodating and perhaps do an additional night instead. A number of people said they liked the intimacy of the setting whilst others were less satisfied due to the acoustics and sight lines at the back of the room. We are very grateful to Paul Crumpler and his team for agreeing to let us use their venue this year and we hope you will support us by continuing to attend events here.

Our annual charity event, the “Lark in the Park”, will be held on Sunday 3rd June in the Parque Leonera in Benahavis from 6 pm.
Hayward Elliott will be directing “Strictly Sex Factor on Ice” by David Tristram.

(The auditions are being held on Tuesday 10th April at El Candil Bar at 7.30 pm.)
This year’s charity is “Andres Olivares”, a charity for children with cancer. Our main sponsor is Blacktower for this event. So far we have secured two acts for your entertainment: the fabulous “Stella” and the lovely Sam Oliver. We have one more act in mind... we hope they say yes! These talented entertainers give their time for free and we are so thrilled to have them back. So you need to dig out your cushions for the amphitheatre, your picnic gear ready for the interval and bring your dancing shoes for the final part of the evening. Entry will be by donation to the charity and more details will be available nearer the time.

On Wednesday 4th July Veronica del Cerro will be leading a play reading evening for us at El Paraiso Golf Club. She is currently looking at the work of an American playwright. It’s American Independence Day on this date so who knows what she might pull off! More details will follow soon!

After a short break we re-start the programme with Diana King leading a rehearsed play reading on Wednesday 12th September at El Paraiso Golf Club. Rehearsed play readings are were the cast have their scripts in their hand and only meet to rehearse a few times. They usually wear costume but don’t normally have a set. If you fancy an opportunity to test out your acting skills this is a great chance to do so.

Martin Curd is our new treasurer, following the departure of Eileen Audas after ten years on the Board. To say that he is a willing volunteer would be stretching it slightly but we are eternally grateful to him for taking this on. We need more members to join ITS so that we have a regular income to cover the cost of our storage rental and insurance costs. If you are not a member please consider it and please encourage your friends and family too. You receive discounts on all ticket prices so it is well worth it. Details are on the Join Us page.

Future dates for your diary are: Wednesday 21st November rehearsed play reading led by Peter Brooks and our Christmas celebration on Friday 14th December. We will confirm the dates and venue for our autumn production very soon.
