We would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, peaceful and enjoyable Christmas and New Year. Things can only get better next year and they will.

A play reading for you
With our positive thinking heads on we are planning a play reading matinee luncheon for Saturday 16th January 2021 at 2pm. We have two plays, two directors: Peter Brooks and Martin Curd, and the casts all lined up for your delight and enjoyment.

We hope this newsletter finds you safe, well and happy. Sadly we do not have lots of news to tell you other than we are still alive and kicking, and desperate to perform for you.

Our next production
Our talented actors involved in the rehearsals for “Towards Zero” since January, are more than ready to perform when the restrictions are fully released. We are committed to making this our first major event. The director, Peter Brooks, is excited to bring you an evening of drama with this classic Agatha Christie thriller.

We hope this newsletter finds you well, happy and safe during these unprecedented times. We offer our sincere condolences to those of you who may have lost family members and close friends.

The purpose of our newsletters is to keep you up-to-date on what we are doing or, more appropriately at the moment, what we are not doing but also to share with you the new things that we are planning to do!

Tickets are now on sale for our spring production “Towards Zero” by Agatha Christie and directed by Peter Brooks. It is a nail-biting thriller with a superb cast and we can guarantee an enjoyable evening of theatre. It will be performed at the Hotel Paraiso on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2020  AMENDMENT: We will confirm revised dates as soon as possible..

Our next event is a play reading evening on Wednesday 12th February 2020 at El Candil Bar in San Pedro. We are meeting at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. No need to book, simply turn up. There is no fee for this event. Russell Hood is organising the evening. You can read a part or simply sit, listen and enjoy!

2019 is coming to a rapid close but we have so many good things coming soon for your enjoyment.

Our next event is a rehearsed play reading directed by June Rendle on Wednesday 22nd January 2020 at the El Trapiche Centre in San Pedro.

Tickets are now on sale for our autumn production “Don’t Dress for Dinner”. It was written by Marc Camoletti and adapted by Robin Hawdon. Diana King will direct it. It is a fast moving French farce. The Sunday Times described it as “deliciously funny”.

Tickets are available online via or from Cath’s Cards, upstairs in Benavista. Our online booking system is secure and easy to use. You can use a debit or credit card. These can be Spanish or UK cards.

Our next event is a rehearsed play reading directed by Peter Brooks on Wednesday 18th September 2019 at the “CK Senior La Quinta”, Urbanisation Soto La Quinta, Calle Asia, 29679 (This was formally called La Aldea). It looks like a small hotel and has long garden with statues/sculptures which you see as you approach it. It is just off the Ronda Road in San Pedro, past the BP garage on your left, a short way past the Aranda Lighting Shop (this is on your right) and past the motorway entry on your right, then turn right under the motorway bridge. Follow the road round and the “CK La Quinta” is the first building on your left. Arrival is 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain.

Thank you for your excellent support as usual for the “Lark in the Park”, our annual charity event held in Benahavis. We raised a total of 4290 € with 2066 € going to “Alzheimer and Dementia Support”, the new charity set up by one of our members, Rebecca Flowerdew. The remaining 2066 € will be used to provide venues for our performances. This is the first time that we have used some of the money raised. This is so that we can continue to fulfil the requirements of our statutes to provide theatre for the public.

Our next event is a play reading on Wednesday 8th May 2019 at El Candil Bar in San Pedro organised by Carol Woolnoth. The bar opens at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. There is no charge for this event and no need to book, please just come along. It is your chance to read a part or to simply sit, listen and enjoy.

Extra-ordinary meeting (EGM) Wednesday 8th May 2019 Prior to Carol’s play reading at El Candil we will be holding a very short EGM to approve two minor changes to the Statutes for ITS as required by the Registry of Andalucia. The meeting will start at 7.55 pm and members are asked to vote in person or by giving their written proxy to a member attending (we suggest naming the President Martin or Carol as both will definitely be there). The changes are to allow founding members and junior members to have a full vote. For a proxy vote please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and give your full name and who you want to give your proxy to, stating ‘yes’ or “no” to the changes.
