Thank you for your excellent support as usual for the “Lark in the Park”, our annual charity event held in Benahavis. We raised a total of 4290 € with 2066 € going to “Alzheimer and Dementia Support”, the new charity set up by one of our members, Rebecca Flowerdew. The remaining 2066 € will be used to provide venues for our performances. This is the first time that we have used some of the money raised. This is so that we can continue to fulfil the requirements of our statutes to provide theatre for the public.

Our next event is a play reading on Wednesday 8th May 2019 at El Candil Bar in San Pedro organised by Carol Woolnoth. The bar opens at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. There is no charge for this event and no need to book, please just come along. It is your chance to read a part or to simply sit, listen and enjoy.

Extra-ordinary meeting (EGM) Wednesday 8th May 2019 Prior to Carol’s play reading at El Candil we will be holding a very short EGM to approve two minor changes to the Statutes for ITS as required by the Registry of Andalucia. The meeting will start at 7.55 pm and members are asked to vote in person or by giving their written proxy to a member attending (we suggest naming the President Martin or Carol as both will definitely be there). The changes are to allow founding members and junior members to have a full vote. For a proxy vote please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and give your full name and who you want to give your proxy to, stating ‘yes’ or “no” to the changes.

Tickets are now on sale for the spring production “One O’clock from the House”, a hilarious comedy by Frank Vickery directed by Peter Brooks.  You may buy your tickets online. We have a new simple and quick payment system with no booking failures at all. It clearly shows you how to use your credit or debit card or Paypal. Or they are available from Urban Chai Restaurant in San Pedro near Las Petunias Commercial Centre or from Cath’s Cards upstairs in Benavista or from Los Arqueros Golf and Country Club off the Ronda Road. Alternatively, you may purchase them from one of the 14 cast members!

As I’m sure you are aware, ITS have been struggling to find a new home since the closure of the Atalaya Park Hotel in 2017.

We have a new and exciting development to announce – a benefactor has come forward and offered to purchase a unit in San Pedro which we can transform into our very own Studio Theatre! This would mean that after over 40 years putting on shows along the coast we would at last have somewhere to call ‘Home’.

We hope 2019 has started well for you. We opened the year with a play reading evening led by Martin Curd at El Candil. Thank you to everyone who came along.

Our next event comes quickly on the heels of the autumn production. Peter Brooks will be directing two rehearsed play readings on Wednesday 28th November 2018 at El Paraiso Golf Club at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. Rehearsed play readings are where the cast wear costume and read from their script (some do learn it!).

The summer is almost over, the heat is reducing and we open our fabulous programme with June Rendle directing two plays on Wednesday 12th September at El Paraiso Golf Club at 7.30 pm. Two rehearsed play readings will be performed and Karl Maresz is the producer. June wrote “Champagne and Olives” and we are also reading “The Window”.

We hope this newsletter will give you plenty to look forward to as we move towards the inevitable ‘close down period’ over the hottest months! But before we go...

Wednesday 4th July
Our next event is on Wednesday 4th July at El Paraiso Golf Club at 7.30 pm for 8 pm curtain up.
Veronica del Cerro is directing "Three Tall Women" written by an American playwright, Edward Albee that won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, his third one!  (Glenda Jackson has just won the 2018 Tony award for her recent performance in this play.)

As spring is hotting up nicely so is our programme! We have plenty to keep you smiling and socialising over the new few months.

We start with a play reading led by Sandra Sprawson on Thursday 26th April at El Candil Bar in San Pedro. We will be reading “Just the two of us” written by Roz Moruzzi with seven characters. We will meet at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. There is no charge for this event and you do not need to book, simply turn up. It is your chance to read a part or you can simply sit and listen. These events are really popular so please come along and enjoy a friendly and relaxing evening.

Thank you to everyone who attended the auditions for Alan Bennett’s farce “Habeas Corpus” with Peter Brooks, the director. The full cast is fabulous with faces you will know and love. The cast list is as follows and rehearsals have already started:
