What a great start to the summer we are having!

Thank you to all of you who have supported our recent events, we hope you have enjoyed them.

We have some new dates for your diary below.

The Annual Lark in the Park

You helped us raise over 2600€ for the charity “Caritas” in late May simply by coming along to the park in Benahavis to have a wonderful evening of theatre and music. The evening was brilliantly organised by Kate Jackson, our vice president, and superbly compered by Carmel Rogers. Andrew Gommersall made his directorial debut with a great short play and we had two of our members, Allyson and Rebecca, taking on the roles of stage manager and prompt, an ITS first for both of them.
Lark in the Park 2016One of our youngest members, Ana aged 13 years, made her ITS stage debut with a speaking part in the play. Sadly, she is leaving Spain shortly with her family; we wish her all the best for the future. We also welcomed Miles Rendle to the cast for this performance. Our thanks go to Karl Maresz and Jamie Stonehewer for their fantastic work on set, lights and sound for the Lark. Thanks guys as always, we couldn’t do it without you. Well done to all involved!

Rehearsed Play Reading at Aloha Golf Club

We were delighted to welcome Peter Brooks to direct two short plays on 23rd June.

91 people attended this lovely evening of theatre and tapas. June Rendle kindly organised the evening, with the management at Aloha, on our behalf.

In the first play, we saw June and Danielle Karlinsky expertly perform a very moving short piece from “Anastasia”. Danielle is 18 years old and off to drama school in September. We hope to entice her back to us during her university holidays.
June and Danielle
Geoffrey Stansfield, Carmel Rogers, Paul Baker, Eileen Audas, Martin Curd, Hayward Elliot and Ruth Baldwin performed the second play “The Rose and Crown”. (see photo below)

The audience enjoyed both the witty one-liners and the twist at the end. Karl Maresz was the stage manager once again.
Rose and Crown
Ghost Writer at the Salon Varietes in Fuengirola

At the end of May we took our spring production of “Ghost Writer”, directed by Diana King our president, to the Salon and 256 supporters came to see us, some of you coming for a second time. It is a great way for us to publicise our work and encourage people from the other end of the coast to travel to see some of our events.

Our next play reading
On Tuesday 20th September we will be organising a play reading at El Candil Bar in San Pedro at 8pm.

You will be able to participate by reading a part or simply come along to be entertained. You can decide on the night! Tapas will be available to purchase at the Bar if you wish to have it. There is no need to book and there is no charge for this event.

Autumn Production

We will be performing our next full play on 18th,19th and 20th November at The Atalaya Park Hotel. More details will follow very soon.

We will be holding auditions for the November production on the evening of Thursday 8th September at El Candil Bar in San Pedro. More details will follow but keep this date free if you think you maybe interested.

Third party information

At the last Board meeting, we decided not to circulate anymore third party fliers for events to our members. The reason for this is that we get asked a lot and it is hard to decide what is relevant and what’s not. More importantly, we have had some feedback from individual members asking us not to do this, as that is not the reason they gave us their email address when they joined our organisation. We hope this does not offend any of our supporters or sponsors or members.

Have a very peaceful and enjoyable summer.

With best wishes,
Diana King, President.
