We hope your preparation for Christmas and the New Year is going well. Here are some dates to enter into your new diary!

Our spring production
We are delighted to announce that Peter Brooks will be directing “Habeas Corpus” by Alan Bennett on Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March 2018.

This play introduces the Wicksteeds, a family for whom the determination to put sex and the satisfaction of the body before everything else is the ruling passion of their lives. Permissive society is taken to task in this farcical comedy in which characters move in and out through a maze of mistaken identities and sexual encounters. As Wicksteed says in the play, “He whose lust lasts lasts longest”.

Theatre critic Michael Billington described the play as “a gorgeously vulgar but densely plotted farce”.

We will be holding auditions for “Habeas Corpus” on Tuesday 9th January 2018 at El Candil Bar in San Pedro at 7.30 for an 8 pm prompt start.

A cast of 11 is required as follows:
Arthur Wicksteed, a General Practitioner 60 – 70
Muriel Wicksteed, his wife Early 60’s
Dennis Wicksteed, their son 30 - 40
Constance Wicksteed, their daughter 35 – 40
Mrs Swabb, a cleaning lady 55 – 65
Canon Throbbing, a celibate 40 +
Lady Rumpers, a white settler 60 – 70
Felicity Rumpers, her daughter 35 – 40
Mr Shanks, sales representative 40 – 50
Sir Percy Shorter a leading light in the medical profession 60 – 70
Mr Purdue, a “sick man” 35 – 40

For more details on the characters please contact Peter on 952 887 372 or 617 520 923.

He will send out audition pieces to anyone who would like to peruse them before the actual audition. There is no need to book for the audition, please just turn up. Rehearsals will take place twice a week during January, February and March.

Date changes!
We are very sorry but we have had to change the dates for our spring production due to the availability of the new venue; please accept our apologies for this. It will now be on 23rd, 24th and 25th March 2018. These are not the dates advertised in our October newsletter.

New Venue: El Paraiso Golf Club
We are very pleased to let you know that El Paraiso Golf Club has offered to host our plays for the next twelve months during the renovations at the Atalaya Park Hotel.

Paul, who manages the restaurant, is one of our biggest supporters and we have held several murder mystery nights there in the past. He will be able to host 100 audience members on each night. Our grateful thanks go to Paul and the team at El Paraiso for their generous offer of support. We look forward to seeing you there for our production of “Habeas Corpus” in March.

The address for El Paraiso Golf Club is Avenida de la Gardenia, Carretera de Cadiz, Estepona Km 167. This is the coast road (past the Atalaya Park Hotel towards Estepona) but it is mountain-side. If you know where Neli G’s is, it’s the immediate right turn after it.

Our Christmas Celebration
We were thrilled to sell the 40 places for our Christmas celebration at Urban Chai so rapidly. Apologies to those who did not manage to get a place to this event. Veronica del Cerro and Andrew Gommersall organised a fun event as usual with many of the audience members reading parts and singing along. Thank you to everyone who supported the evening. Neil and his team at Urban Chai did a great job; the food was superb!

The November Play Reading
A huge thank you to Jamie and Beverley Stonehewer who organised a very enjoyable evening in November at El Candil. Over 40 people attended to read two short plays. These evenings are always fun and we often receive very positive feedback on them.

The January Play reading
Miles Rendle is organising the next play reading on Wednesday January 24th 2018. We have yet to confirm the venue for this but we will let you know nearer the time.

He will be organising a pre-rehearsed play reading with a cast of four followed by an open play reading. Both will be great fun as always! There is no charge for this event.

The February Play reading
Martin Curd and Russell Hood are organising this event on Wednesday 21st February 2018 at El Paraiso Golf Club.

They are planning to do a rehearsed play reading… watch this space for more details!

International Theatre Studio Website
Our web master, Nina, continues to keep our website up to date with all our activities as well as preserving our history of events by adding the photographs etc of these. Many of you are now using our online ticket booking system for which we are grateful.

Our thanks go to Nina for all her hard work and for her patience with those of us who are still technologically illiterate.

Membership of ITS
The annual membership fees are now overdue for 2017 so if you haven’t paid, please do so at one of our next events or pay online via our website. The fee is still only 10 € a year, which is incredible value and allows you to access discounted ticket prices. If you join as a couple it is only 15 €. What are you waiting for?

Currently we have 38 single memberships, 43 double memberships and six lifetime members. These figures simply do not reflect the fantastic support we have from our audiences when we regularly perform to over 300 people.

Please consider becoming a member!

Our Annual General Meeting
The next AGM is on Wednesday 7th March 2018. Details and papers will follow early in the New Year.

We would like to wish you a happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
