We hope this newsletter will give you plenty to look forward to as we move towards the inevitable ‘close down period’ over the hottest months! But before we go...

Wednesday 4th July
Our next event is on Wednesday 4th July at El Paraiso Golf Club at 7.30 pm for 8 pm curtain up.
Veronica del Cerro is directing "Three Tall Women" written by an American playwright, Edward Albee that won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, his third one!  (Glenda Jackson has just won the 2018 Tony award for her recent performance in this play.)

This will be a rehearsed play reading with a stellar cast for your entertainment. We have the amazing June Rendle, the wonderful Carmel Rogers and the fantastic Veronica del Cerro playing the three females.

Veronica is planning to host a question and answer session for the audience after the play, with the cast, which is a new venture for us but quite common in many theatres!

There is no need to book, simply turn up on the night. Entry will be 4€ each for ITS members and 5€ each for guests.?

The bar will be open at the start of the evening and the golf club restaurant serves until 7 pm so if you wish to dine before hand please contact them to book a table on 952 883 835.

The Lark in the Park
We would to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our annual Lark in the Park charity event in Benahavis. You helped us raise a total of 5010 € which is incredible and this year it is for the “Fundacion Andres Olivares” charity. The entertainers were superb yet again and as usual everyone gave his or her time for free. We sold all the 200 tickets and had another 30 or so people as well.

We are very grateful to Peter Letters and the Benahavis Town Hall for their use of the park for our charity event each year.

Alan Jones, our lovely and talented photographer (a willing volunteer), has captured some great images as usual from the Lark in the Park. These are on our website page along with some photographs taken by the members of the charity.

Below are Eileen Audas, Russell Hood, Rebecca Flowerdew and Martin Curd in the play “Strictly Sex Factor on Ice”, directed by Hayward Elliott at the Lark in the Park.

New Board member
Paul PJ Lopez has joined the ITS Board and he will be taking a lead role on our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. He has vast expertise in this area and we are delighted to have him as part of the team. He was last seen in the comedy play “Habeas Corpus” in April playing the suicidal man wearing striped pyjamas and a rope around his neck.

We are so lucky!
Our regular venue, the Atalaya Park Hotel, is still undergoing extensive renovations and we hope we will be invited back at some point in the near future. But fortunately for us, we have the use of the El Paraiso Golf Club for a year for which we are very grateful. Thanks to Paul Crumpler and the team. And we still use Bar El Candil in San Pedro for our meetings, rehearsals and some play readings. Thanks to Alfonso.

We have now been offered the use of the Salon de Actors in the Benahavis Town Hall so we will be visiting soon to see if we could make use of it for future performances.

The new data protection law: GDPR
We are so glad that you “opted in” to receiving our emails following the new data protection law. We have updated our privacy policy and the cookie statement on the website; thanks to our brilliant webmaster Nina who knows about this sort of stuff.

We have temporarily “lost” some supporters but we will attempt to lure them back by making the ‘opt in’ process easier. Please be assured that we will never sell your data and you can unsubscribe at any time.

After the summer close down...
We have a rehearsed play reading planned for Wednesday 12th September, which June Rendle will now direct. Our supporters tell us that they like these evenings and we do too. We will let you know what June intends to direct nearer the time.

We hope to see you very soon at Veronica’s rehearsed play reading next week.
