Our next event comes quickly on the heels of the autumn production. Peter Brooks will be directing two rehearsed play readings on Wednesday 28th November 2018 at El Paraiso Golf Club at 7.30 pm for an 8 pm curtain. Rehearsed play readings are where the cast wear costume and read from their script (some do learn it!).

The two plays are as follows:

“Darlings, You were Wonderful” by Derek Lomas
The synopsis is: Dressing room banter at it’s best. The Amazon Amateur Theatre Group is performing a passionate Spanish play for a Drama Festival. Five women, multiple tensions, chaos backstage. Lesley, the missing member staggers in, drunk and in motorcycle gear. Is the adjudicator impressed with the cast’s seething passionate acting? There’s only one way to find out!!!!!!!

“An Englishman Abroad” by Alan Bennett
Based on a true story. Coral Browne, acclaimed actress, relates the amusing, witty and touching story of her meeting with renowned English spy Guy Burgess in his seedy little flat in Moscow.

Peter has lined up an incredible cast for your delight with many of your favourite actors taking part and one or two new faces plus one very expressive face whom we miss. (Yes, it is you Paul!)

The Autumn Production: “Hand of God” and “A Resounding Tinkle”
Thank you to everyone who attended one of the four evening performances in early November and congratulations to the director, Miles Rendle, his cast and crew for their excellent work. They delivered wonderful performances each night. We received some mixed feedback as we had not performed any absurd comedy for a long time but it did seem to be a bit like Marmite. Most of the audience members loved it; others did not! We do like to keep you entertained and we are extremely grateful for your support at all our events.

Still searching for a permanent venue
We are still seeking a permanent theatre venue for our performances but with little success at the moment as we must make a charge to cover our costs, the biggest expense being the rental of our storeroom for the flats and equipment. If you have any ideas, please let us know.

We are very grateful to Paul and the team at El Paraiso Golf Club for their incredible support and generosity in hosting us. And thanks, too, to Alfonso at El Candil Bar in San Pedro.

A new Treasurer is needed
As from next March 2019, we will need a new treasurer. If you may be interested we will make sure that you get the necessary help and support. Experience would be great but it is not essential.

Sound and technical expertise
Each performance we do has some lighting and sound requirements; with some requiring special effects too. We would like to train up at least one more person to assist with this role as we currently rely solely on Andrew and Jamie. An enthusiastic beginner or a technical whizz kid would be great. If you know anyone, please let us know. Full training will be given.

Help Please with Set Building!
We really need some help with set building, as our team is extremely talented and experienced but maturing faster than we would like! If you, or anyone you know, have any desire to help us create the sets for our plays we would love to hear from you. Enthusiasm and energy is required and we will of course work with any willing volunteers. If you are not sure what is involved or whether you can commit time to it, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will chat to you about what’s involved.

We look forward to seeing you at the next event.
