News from ITS
We are now taking a break for the hottest months of the year, and we are planning to return in mid/late September with another series of rehearsed play readings. We still have our main production, “Towards Zero” ready to go if large gatherings are allowed and if the hotel will allow us to use their venue.

New venue
Our final event on the 12th July was held at a new venue for us, “90 miles” which is a beach front restaurant within the beautiful Villa Cana complex. 51 people attended and had a super meal and great performances from Paul Kloegman, Hannah Murray and PJ Lopez directed by Peter Brooks. Dolores with Gina, the chef, and their team looked after us well. Sadly, we had a significant number of people who were unable to secure tickets due to the restrictions on the venue numbers. It will be interesting to see what the restrictions are going forward. Where we can, we will offer repeats of the plays to allow more audience members.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The Government made “temporary and extraordinary measures” in early May 2021 regarding the obligation to hold AGMs. The obligation is suspended until 31.12.21 at the earliest.

Our last AGM was in February 2020. Fortunately, we do not have any significantly important or urgent items that need members’ approval at the moment.

Following the resignation of Sandra Sprawson after many years service, PJ Lopez has been asked to take on the role of vice president of ITS and he has agreed. This does require member ratification so until we meet again, he is VP Elect. He was proposed by Peter Brooks and seconded by Diana King.

Thank you very much!
We would like to thank everyone for your continued support for all our events since January 2021, especially when the food was sometimes disappointing in the former venue. The raffles at each event have always increased the small income on the day for ITS and have enabled us to pay for the storage and insurance costs that remained even when we were unable to do anything at the height of the pandemic. However, we did take the opportunity to reduce some costs at the end of May as the contract for one of the storage rooms was due for renewal and we decided not to go ahead. Instead, we pruned and then consolidated all the items we store into one storeroom.

New members
We have several new members, and we would like to formally welcome them. These are unusual times and as those of us who have been in ITS for a while know, they are missing out on a range of social events and performances that have not happened in over a year and a half...our monthly play readings where anyone can read a part; our annual ‘Lark in the Park’ charity fundraising picnic/outdoor theatre; our competitive auditions; our two main productions in spring and autumn; our ten week rehearsal programmes; and our celebration meals/evenings etc. Hence, we are still not taking a membership fee at the present time. But we will be back with a bang as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we wish you a happy, healthy and peaceful summer.
