AUDITION CALL FOR “FOUR OLD BROADS”

Auditions announced for International Theatre Studio, ITS’s upcoming rehearsed play reading of FOUR OLD BROADS by Leslie Kimbell.

Auditions will be held on Saturday 17th May from 12.00-3pm at Age Concern in Pasaje Armando Nº2, 29670 San Pedro Alcántara.

Join us for this comedy romp featuring four old broads and their friends in a retirement assisted living facility.

Retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton desperately needs a vacation – and NOT another trip up to Georgia to see that “precious little German village for the umpteenth time.” A Sassy Seniors Cruise through the Caribbean may be just the ticket if she can just convince her best friend, Eaddy Mae Clayton, to stop praying and go with her. Unfortunately, things have not been very pleasant at Magnolia Place Assisted Living since Nurse Pat Jones began working there. A mystery unfolds with laughter as the gals try to outsmart the evil Nurse Pat Jones and figure out why so many residents have been moved to “the dark side.” What exactly IS that mysterious pill, and what happened to Doctor Head? If they can solve the mystery, they may make it to the cruise ship after all.

Roles available:

• Beatrice Shelton – Senior citizen; a former stripper with an attitude.
• Eaddy Mae Clayton – Senior citizen; a former nurse and “religious” lady.
• Imogene Fletcher – Senior citizen; the newest resident at Magnolia Place.
• Maude Jenkins – Senior citizen; a funeral and soap-opera-obsessed frump.
• Sam Smith – Senior citizen; former Elvis impersonator and all-around Casanova.
• Pat Jones – A rude and pushy nurse/director of Magnolia Place
• Ruby Sue Bennett – A quiet, romance-novel-loving nurse

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. You may also want to bring along a good joke or funny anecdote to show off your humour. (Optional)

Please note: There will be a "Four Old Broads" read-through on Saturday 24th May from 12-3pm at Age Concern in Pasaje Armando Nº2, 29670 San Pedro Alcántara.

Rehearsals will be two nights a week, dependent on cast availability, mostly during June. Please come to auditions with a list of possible date conflicts for May through to performance on Wednesday 9th July.

Even though this is a rehearsed play reading, we want to ensure a quality performance, fully utilising the large stage and facilities at the El Trapiche Cultural Centre in San Pedro Alcántara.
